Speaker 1: Hey, I'm Tyler and I'm Casey, and you're listening to the Element podcast. You're wondering who's that guy. He's sitting in the back seat talking to the bag of Casey's head his spot. We are here today actually on some Texas public and we have we out here. We have our new buddy and uh, I guess you'd say all the team member, right, I don't know how to not say that. I don't know how to say that. Cool, you know what I mean? But uh, we've got Jack Summers. Jack say hello, man, guys, how are you all? Well, well, we'll give them a chance to answer. Yeah, okay, okay, So anyway, Jack, I guess Casey would probably be better at doing this. That's I'll let you do. Jack, be nimble when you're crossing the fence. Uh, Jack, be quick. Jack had a hard time with the fence today. But it was a legal fence crossing. It was crossing, it wasn't a corner cross. Jack Summers the newly non teenager friend. Um Jack, Happy bladd birthday, man U. We sent a few times. Yeah, Jack's Jack's will in his twenties now, So, uh, Jack, tell us who you are? What you're doing. Man. Um, this is where I get a little confused. That's a that's a bag question here. Okay, so Jack, you come from Dallas? Did you are you born and raised? So? Born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Um played a little baseball, baseball, football, basketball, all of it. What about the knees bro not good? Not good. I do a lot of catcher. Yeah, oh that's tough. Played catcher, play basketball. Cracked the knee caps a few times. Um, Teltendon. Let's see, we're gonna lift you up a little on this podcast. But we don't want to get too big headed. So let's talk about the m c L tear real quick. What happened? No, I told my Tilton and but you to m CL I told my Meniscus, Oh, I was wrestling my cousin. Did you win? I did not. Yeah. That's probably fifteen seconds into the match. He hip toss me and my leg caught the ground a little too early. Sounds like a Tyson fight. Man, fifteen seconds into it. You know, it's painful. I mentioned this on the podcast recently with the Tyson thing in the Shark week. You know what's going on and these guys in the Shark Week deal of the biologists, you know, they were just they kept saying, that's a twelfth round. It's a twelfth round. He's really getting you know, he's gonna have to make it happen. I know he's getting tired down there, you know, under the water, and I'm like, dude, Tyson has never been to a twelfth round. You're like, you don't know what that has like. You know, he's like in like thirty five five, like his first thirty five fives or something. He was like three minutes. Was the average man three rounds or something. That's why I don't like sharks. I don't like the the play it up Hollywood stuff about Shark Week. Yeah, it's kind of boring to look through it and see all the cool footage. That's tough for me to do. I'm a cynic, though, man, I am bad Tyson's what about Tyson's fight coming up? So I'm stoked to it looks like assuming awesome. Yeah, he's big. Robinson's fighting too. Really, Yeah, he's fighting. He's a he's in a prelimit. He's fighting that the YouTuber Jake Paul. Oh really, he's not gonna good? Is that hell, like heavyweight boxing is gonna come back? Is all these just old guys that we all know are gonna like just getting Jake? Yes, I guess I think it's great idea. I think Nate Robinson should fight David Robinson. I would I don't know. David is a freak specimen. He is, dude, He's big. He's big. What's six ten? Yeah? I think again Robinson's what nine? Yeah? He would never touch it, would Um. So we've been out here. We've been out here, uh, searching around some Texas pub which is one of our least favorite things to do this time of year. But in all honestly, we had a pretty good day. Man, Um, what you got there in your hand? I think you should tell us you're the okay this? Uh we found a shed and it's not a bad No, it's Jacks over here laughing at us about it. But like we think this is a pretty good deer, you know, like it's not legal, but we look as potential for this year as being something that we could shoot and we found it. How far how close were we to the camera? We hung eight yards? Yeah, that's I was singing. Yeah and so yeah, right out in the wide open, you know, like we were walked right into it. So that was a cool thing because it's kind of like on the entryway, like the trail most guys would take to get in there. We had to walk over it on the way out right. Why do we cut in the little Yeah? But what I'm saying is like that shows you that no one's been in there because this would have been found. Yeah, Tyler, I'm proud of you finding the ship. It wasn't a hard find, but it's good. I'm usually behind you, so I don't find many ships. But now we've got Jack, so I didn't have to walk behind you the whole time for you. That's why earlier Jack express sentiments that he didn't like Taco Bell very much. I think he just knows that he's gonna be behind us a lot. So it's not a good place to be passive aggressively turning down the Taco Bell. Okay, so let's talk about this. We say, now we've got Jack, what does that mean? Casey Uh, because we didn't really talked about that. That means that, um, the dynamic of the element has changed a little bit. Uh. One of the things you and I've kind of struggled with for a long time is storytelling because we always want to hunt, and so especially me, I'm scheming all the time. Uh, try to keep camera stuff in mind. You do a better job of than I do of like trying to tell a story via camera. But always we have a hard time getting both of us on film and showing that dynamic of like our friendship, camaraderie, like the scheming of the hunt and all that, like, uh, you know, just to be candid, I don't know twenty of any of the scheming you see us to do on film is usually kind of redo of what we just did off camera. We should film this, Yeah, so uh, we are great actors if you can't tell. But still there's no there's no replacing the real thing, right. So with Jack around, um, we're gonna be it. Tyler like to laugh every time the word Jack is in front of anything. So it's gonna be a fun season, guys, probably Jack. If Brandon Rhodes ever comes back around, he's gonna say something Jack's out. We need to get him a Duck Darcey T shirt that says Jack, you know it just breaking my face on it. Yeah, but that's kind of Jack. What does it mean now that we have Jack? What do you think it means? Yeah, you're Jack Jack? What does what mean? Man? What are you gonna What's like? What are you gonna do this year? I'm gonna film? Right? Finally finally he gets the point camera. Man, that's right, you're the cameraman. Uh. Jack's gonna make sure everything's on camera. So we're gonna have more videos probably. I think the result is gonna be more videos and there's gonna be more natural Uh. I think what like a lot of people would put it in perspective with the map Scout Challenge a little bit, Like a lot of people have reached out to us and they're like, man, this is such good information. I might over here, like, man, I hope people are finding something in this because I feel like we're just clowns, you know, but people truly think there's some good information. These maps Scout challenges, Well, we do every time we're hunting. It's a map scout challenge, you know what I mean? Like we're sitting here, you and I looking at our phones and look at it on X and we're like, how can we kill something this afternoon? You know what I mean? And so being able to have like that part of the scheming and everything on video, maybe that'll help with the a little more inside and help people kind of just glean information and tips and stuff from us or at least the experience that we have doing this and what we're seeing, and hopefully I'll help people. I would think, you know, you didn't say expertise, and it's probably a wise choice of words there. Experience. I think we were experienced. Expertise is an't really gonna ever be something that we do. But like we try to do as much stuff as we can that we're gonna you know, the more stuff you do, the more you can learn. Maybe by the time I'm sixty, you've done enough stuff to know something. Yeah, what I mean? I mean that's the thing, man, is also like things there. You talk about this a lot, but like people people will go, Man, I'd love to hunt Texas. It's like, well, what you're talking about is the brush country and that's nine hours from here, you know what I mean? And so in states there are like microregions in these areas that are different. And so my point being that even the experiences that we have, I can't definitively talk to your experience in West Texas or Oklahoma or you know, Michigan or Wisconsin or whatever it might be. So like we can all kind of learn about what dear do generally. Um. But like I don't want to sound like I'm an expert because I'm just I've just hunted my spots for several years or whatever, you know what I mean. Like dude hunting marshes in Wisconsin doesn't necessarily know how deer in East Texas act, you know what I mean? Instance, Uh, are very good friends. So so got to talk about this. Sam Hogan been on the show a few times from the worst guy in the world got married, Stop hunting? Um, but now you better that it's a challenge more than anything. Make sure he does. Um. But the other day on the Element Facebook page, I think it's top fans page, wasn't it a very good fan of ours? Can you request to be in that? Is that how it works? If you want to be in there, you have to be very heavily involved in what you do. Exactly. If you think you're a top fan of the Element, go request to be in that page. But um, anyways, a guy I think it was James was asking about some sign that he found, and Sam was like, oh, yeah, for sure, that's a big buck. Well it was hog, it was hog dukie and hog tracks. But where Sam lives in Michigan, that's not a thing. So you find that. And he admitted the mistake once you said that, and I approached it very generally. Yeah, you know, like, hey, I'm going to disagree with the same here. But it's because he's from Michigan. They don't have the hogs there. You find that, and that's what it is. And that just goes to show not that Sam is dumbed by any means. He's very smart. He's killed kind of public land, dear, you know, but it's just not something he's experienced with it. What. In fact, Sam sent us some footage of him killing some or getting some shots and killing uh, he killed a doe on public in Michigan last year. I think, um, so we might even be able to throw some of that up and let you'all check that out on the tube. He might be dude. Sam is a great dude. I love that guy, man. And what's funny is we've never even met him. We haven't. We were going to last year and you couldn't make it to the hog hunts. Yeah, Um, COVID is that what it was? I think at this point, I think, you know, I don't think COVID. It was like, you know, a cold or whatever. But that's what kept Jack away from us for like a month. He's COVID. Yeah, we would be doing this. Uh, we would have done this already probably. Um, but times are weird, man. So yeah, well it's getting back to normal hunting season. We're gonna forget abou at all November. No, you're going to forget about remember. No, it's gonna change a lot of stuff to you. But this ain't a politics podcast. I'll get enough of that anyways. Tyd's been watching a lot of Fox News. That's my favorite channel in the world. Man. But uh, Jack, we do a lot of the Texas public Land white tail and hog stuff. Um, I'm talking to you. This isn't like the Uh, if you end it with Jack, I think it works better than the starting with Jack. Is that how it works? Plus it sounds more like you know duck Nyasu. I need to stop saying the way I do. How do you say it towards like you're talking to a guy. You know, hey Jack, Yeah, Hey Jack, Hey Jack, but not hey Jack, Hijack. It's gonna be hijacked. Would be Jack stands over there? A lot of people call me by my last name. Can we do Summers that we would say his last name? Yeah, okay, Jack Summers. What do you'all think about that name? That's a cool name. That's like the brand is like, you've done all kinds of hunting stuff, but you kind of expressed that waterfowl is kind of one of your big things, right and uh you that's kind of where you've kind of cut your teeth on the public land stuff. I've done some hunting here in East Texas. Actually that's all the public hunting I've done. Yeah, Um, so are you gonna can you give us some on ex coordinates and stuff? Well, you be willing to send that to all the listeners that want to hunt your teeal holes and stead? I mean you probably won't kill any ducks anyways. Yeah, you gotta have you gotta be a good caller right to kill ducks. There's just gotta be ducks there. But yeah, that's kind of how we feel, is like we we could probably just give y'all our deer hunting spots in East tex Is because it's not like y'all are gonna see deer anymore than we do. Probably, I mean some people might, but like I just think there's not a whole lot of deer in some of these spots. And it seems that way sometimes, Like we walked around today for what eight hours? And that much is not eight Oh now, Jack's gotta opinion. I mean, what we went to eat lunch at one? If well, okay, it's been eight hours off our cameraman hadn't gone the right to city, but that was a different deal if he just wouldn't have gone to for worth godly but uh nevertheless, however long how many deers y'all see you today? On public land? I don't think I saw one? Zero zero? We found? How many deer tracks did you identify correctly? I know it's dry, but there should be some stuff from when find hair? How many beds do we find? We've found a lot of beds. We found some beds, yeah, which I can't determine that they were buckbeds though, just deers, yeah, but legal animals, yeah, depending on the time of Yeah, you know everything dualcy if um. Yeah, So Anyway, it's been it's been a good day. Right now, we're sitting in the shade and it's I can feel the heat radio it's like coming through this plastic candle. Um. But anyway, JACKI yeah, you've done like the duck hunting a lot you. Um, you did do a hunt not too long ago. I guess, Um that was pretty interesting for a particular type of sheep, right Fort Davis went all dad hunting. Yeah, it's cool. How did you get in on that deal? One of my buddies who actually just met probably two or three years ago. Um, he's been talking about it since I met him. And finally they actually left me in Dallas and by accident. Well so it was him and my other buddy going and they left and they forgot about me to invite me. Like your use of the term buddy. He's very loose, isn't it. Also had a buddy steal a sunglasst I call it stolen. I left him that. Um, well they left without me and they got two hours away, and it turns out my my buddy's ranch was two hours away in Ranger. Um, and they called me and they're like, oh, we forgot you. It's like, it's like, what do you mean, where are we going? Houston? Houston's his name. It's like, we're going to my ranch. I was like, Okay, where do I go? It's like, well, you can drive eight hours or in no way my car can make it eight hour, So you can drive two hours to Ranger and we'll pick you up there. And I was like, all right, dag man, they just made They just hung you out to drive it. Man. It was a close call, but it was worth it turned out great. Yeah, y'all. Uh yeah, I got to shoot a couple of barber sheep, Yes we did. Um. I shot one twenty three from like four yards is pretty cool. Three or eight huh on on the run to which is pretty cool. Man. My buddy and I were switching off Houston and Houston didn't care to shoot. He was kind of our guide on the trip. He's got a real keen eye for all that stuff. But then we and then me and my buddy doubled up onto which is anything over twenty eight is a big one, and Houston said it was probably the two most symmetrical biggest all dad killed on his property. Whoades dude in the chaps out there and nice, like, those are some good looking dude dads. And the funny thing is we didn't stock the two big ones. We're actually so we were driving to a different spot and um, we're hanging out listening to music and all of a sudden, I one all dad runs right across the road. It was weird because it was way down low on the road and it was my buddies turning to shoot and he was in shotgun and he hopped out of the car and shot it. And I thought I didn't I didn't hear anything. I was. It was so much adrenaline going that I saw an ad Dad run to the left and I was like, shoot hi again, shoot him again. The Houston was saying that too, and he's like, what are you talking about. It was like, you're our dad's right there and he's like, I'm looking at mine right there on the ground. I was like, oh, well, hit me the gun. Yeah, and then shot that one. And then he went into a brush pile and shot him again. But it's pretty crazy, man, that's cool. That is cool, dude. And then I shot Halna. Yeah. Houston wasn't too happy about like killing him. Really see much of them if you've never shot a gun, you can shoot one, or if you're under twelve mm hmmm. And he's managing for have Alna's. No, he just he's got a soft spot for him. Man, I've ever known that does. I tell you what. I've worked out there near that country kind of south of Alpine for a while and we were trapping elk and we were staying out like just camping on the ground, no tin or nothing, open air because it's just great weather out there. You know, it's just different than here. And that was like April, and those Havlnas like came through camp and they sound so mean and they just like want to eat you or something. It's like a dog in a hog mix, yes, and a rat a little bit too. They call them skunk pigs. You know, they got that land. Well. My first experience with have Alena's I shot a odd day the day before. It's like you you know, and a big animal and uh, the gut pole was like a hunter yards from camp. We got up the next morning. Those Hellenas out there eating those guts. They're nasty. Let me ask you this. Your your buddy doesn't like people shooting Havlna is was he not with you when you shot it? Well, okay, so we're finish hunting me hunting for like eight hours, eight hours or eight hours, it depends on if you count that Jack was I think he says he gets left like the third day. The first second day, we got up pretty early. We hunted for like eight hours, and then we got back to the house and finally convinced Houston because he started talking about how he's got a big kill list in Texas and like he shot all these animals. Yeah, yeah, yea. I was like, well, you know what he was what I'm trying to expand my killers too, Like let me shoot have elea this one I can just knock off real quick. It's like, all right, I'll give you ten minutes and went out and did it. So he drove me. He drove me up this road, going real slow because we saw some run right as right as I tried to make the deal with him, I didn't find it. It was getting dark and he starts heading back. He's like, all right, we're done. You're ten minutes up. And I was like okay, and I got out of the car. I started walking and walked back to the um house through I went a different way. It took me a little bit, but I get back and my buddies like, you should have went back with Houston. Because right as Houston pulled up, a bunch ran right in front of the house. It's like, oh that sucks. And then um, so we didn't get we can't get service on the in the house. So we go up to hill and get service. And my buddy was like, you want to go get service. I was like yeah, sure. Hopped in the car. He has is two to three one ten seconds. Big group went right across the road and I shot one. I could have shot like four, and I didn't want to make Houston mad. And I took a picture of it, and uh, He's like, what'd y'all shooting? We're like, oh, raccoon And then and then, but then I finally showed him what's uh. How so the butt the Houston buddy, he's like only a friend of like two or three years. She said, Yeah, so he's from Midland. Yeah, so he used to go out to his ranch all the time because it's pretty close. He moved Dallas when I was junior in high school. Yeah, which is like last year, three years ago two years. Yeah, yeah, it's cool. Yeah, man, have Helena's huh eat it? No, I just couldn't couldn't find the find it within you the will. I think that's one of those things you gotta put in the insta pot for like eight hours and it comes out making it looks like devil ham when you're taking it out, you know, just spread herble meat. I don't know. Yeah, well, ain it weird that like all the West Texas stuff didn't taste is good? Yeah? You know, because there ain't nothing green out there. There's just eating dirt. It's got man, that's it sounds like there's a that's true. It sounds like there's a bunch of gang out there. Man. You see, I mean, did y'all see, like yeah, where you're at there? Like on that in that particular area, was there just slack stunning everywhere? Dad? We saw a few white tail bul deer and we saw a bunch of elk, but no bulls. Yeah, did y'all? Kal tastes pretty good to you? You um, you'll kill quail out there? No, sorry, I'm in Coleman. We did you see any blue quhil out there? Uh? No? But he says, there's a bunch. But they they go that mountain I was telling you about. They go, there's like a big field right across the road. There you go. Apparently tear it up out there, got you. So when I worked out there, Um, we ate shot birds to eat while we're up on top of the mountain. Birds and all. Dad. The birds are definitely better, m but the blue whale just didn't taste like you know, bob wats are good. Yeah, that's what we used to kill him, Coleman all the time. They fried them up. The dude. I know people like like to do the sporting thing. Brian coax to me, real man, But if you can find a cove your bab wait's on the ground and shoot like seven or eight hotshot is the way to go. That's in the same way if if if I see them all huddle up around a brush pile at the basic the mesquite tree at twenty yards and I'm trying to let them jump up, No, sir, Yeah, that just don't make no sense. No, you gotta eat. But the blue quail or not that good. I've I've heard that they they're tougher. So we shot blue quail and morning dove all are out there in the morning, doves are better. I love dove. I think doves are one of my favorite, which I mean it's it is one of those things you eat like once a year. So maybe there's a little bit of that in there, but it's one of my favorite things to eat. Man. I think, uh, you know, everybody does the halapino thing for good reason because it's tasty. But we used to make dove dumplings when I was a kid, and it's pretty good too. I had to do some of that. I had a kind of a stew one one time, um that we did one time with some people that we hadn't hunted with before they did it, and it was it was pretty good. But dude, my dad does does them bacon wrap with the jalapeno and um, he puts some barbecue sauce on the man, that sounds good. Its cream cheese in there too, Yes, the cream cheese. It's an extra step that's kind of difficult, but when you do it is so good. Man. That's about as fine as it gets. Man. And it's the first like wild game of the year, you know, kind of the season, so you're just like you're like, man, this is the best thing. Seventeen we went to Colorado the Mount and Brennan and that was a good podcast. What episode was that you've already six? That's what I thought six And that was that was a good show. And uh, we had a good camp that year. Brennan shot that bull and like day three was it something like that? It's pretty early in the hunt. Yes, I think that's right. And we had a evening meal of bacon wraps dove and then for an appetizer and then elk backstrap skillet just buttered in the steel. I don't have we ever had a better meal than you know. I have this clip of you in my mind. It's hilarious. Um, you're eating that backstrap and you go backstrap baby, and you're like mouth is just glistening with like butter. You know. So well, hopefully we can replicate that that this year to an extent um. Jack's gonna pretty much be going and doing about near everything we do with us this year. Mine it's just a couple hunts or whatever that you know, it just can't make work. But um, you'all gonna go to Nebraska. Um, I'm heavily considering it. At this point, it's like, a that's pretty good. Yeah, I mean it's uh, it's it's just really like I'm going unless something weird gets in the way pretty much. You know. So, Jack, you ever been to Nebraska? I'm not cool me neither. I'm not to make that Tripolis day. It was my first time to be in Nebraska. So I'm gonna go do that. You're gonna come back, film will win and we're all. Thanks for reminding me. You gonna bring you back down Irish man, I just really don't want to do those anymore. Guys. Can y'all buy some T shirts? I'm gonna stop doing waiting. Speaking of Jack, here's your T shirt? Oh, happy season, Jack? What do you think about that shirt? Man? The black season shirts? Good looking shirt? Jack? Like the font, that's right, it's perfect. That's what they call me in the hood. Uh So, now those black shirts aren't my personal favorite. I like the tree T shirts, which I just here were all of every day you off you'd be fine. You don't love the color. All of it looks good because you can hunt in it, you can go out on the town and where shirts you like. It's everything, man, Um, But there's slick t shirts either way, y'all, what are you trying to say? It? Saying just the room makes me look pretty good. Um, excuse me, sir, I don't know, let me count G one, G two three in the throat. So uh. Anyways, winding, and then we're all headed Colorado for an extended period of time to go el cohunting, Jackie everyben el hunting. It's gonna be fun, dude, that gumming. Uh a little bit less back country than last year, but back country nonetheless, right, I mean we're gonna do some hiking and camping and you know, hockey and live off for backs, which is pretty exciting. Um. I think that. Not that I won't ever truck camp because it's pretty nice to have all your amenities right there and be able to drive the town YouTube. But after last year, I really enjoyed like having camp in the back country, you know, went true, Like where we camp last year was just picturesque, you know, not that he had great views, but just under big old pine trees right next to a creek and you know, we had worms swimming around around We're swimming the water and uh, cou's deer in camp. You know, like the We talked to some locals down there and they they swear that the cou's deer come into camp because they're scared of the wolves in the mountain lions, so they come. That's a that's a big story for sure. I don't know if it's I don't know. It's a good story. It's a good story, like good stories. So we're not sure. We didn't hear wolves one day, You remember that, I know, man, it was a weird deal. We also one night at that camp, we're sitting there in the I mean, is this is you know, this is pitch black as the Southwest, you know, he wilderness, and all of a sudden, something screams its head off like a hundred yards around. Remember that talk about hair raising, man, And it's like a you know, it sounded like a jack rabbit or something getting eating like a hundred yards away. I mean, it was close. And when we looked at each other and I was like, I'm not really scared, but that makes me feel really weird right now over there eating right there? Yeah, just all too Yeah. Yeah, I wish you'd been there for that trip, man, Um, Yeah, it's pretty sweet trip. But this year be a little bit different, but still gonna do some of that. It's gonna be otc um and we're just after any pretty much in illegal elk Uh. We're gonna try to get Tyler's first ball. That's kind of kind of be the goal, but we're gonna make sure we kill something. So that's September and then early October actually leaving the ind of September and being there for all cover one d South Dakota. Ever been to South Dakota, Jack, I'm not dang do you us still go all these places you've been in Colorado from real dude? Uh, Jack showed us up this summer up in the frying pan area or whatever, caught a bunch of fish. But we're gonna head South Dakota. We're gonna shoot all kinds of furkeys, forkies, good low kies, good lords. I love it, man, Dude. That's gonna actually be a pretty epic trip because it's a place none of us has been too, very far from home, very different from what we're used to hunting. Uh. Multitude of species, you know, any deer, any deer tag uh, and like there's a good chance we go up there and shoot some one hundreds. But Yeah, there's an off chance that there's like some really big stuff running around up there. Yeah for sure. I mean, and we're gonna be looking at like we have antler REGs where we live, but we can shoot pretty much anything. Slobbering over a four antler deer. We're pretty much like, I don't know, I think that's gonna be an awesome trip because we're not like holding ourselves to any for standards or anything so handed. That's kind of what we're wanting to do, is you know, come back with a bunch of meat. So yeah, we hopefully, oh yeah, hopefully we can. Well maybe we'll just have freezers full of help make no ICUs give Jack all our dear meat. Um, I'm gonna have to Lisa get an invite to the elk cookout. Yeah, we need to probably cover that a little bit. But you usually just split the elk, you know, between whoever is they or whatever, except I never really there's only two backstraps though. Isn't that weird? I think it's weird how it works. I never really received any of the meat that we helped Brandon pack out that night. I bet Matt got something. I bet he did. Mr. My knees hurt. So conveniently, man, Brandon just leaving elk meat on the ground for the bears to eat. I have some deer meat that you need to eat. Bring it and I need you to eat. Um. You've been cooking some pork. I have porks weak old hogs spaghetti from the hog videos. If you'll haven't seen those videos, they are like it's like watching Nintendo. I used to say Access spaghetti was the best. It's real good wild Hawgs spaghetti is. Man, it was good. It's good, real good. Yeah. I was surprised. Man. I think it's because there's enough fat in that meat. Now it's not fatty, but there's enough grease and hog meat to really give it a good browning. So like it gets kind of like a crispy kind of tendency to the outside of the ground meat. It's good Man spaghetti because it's easy. Yeah. Well this just uh I just had it the other day and I was thinking about it. But it was good, is what my point is. The pork was good mate for Sunday lunch from a whole family in Um. Not everybody is like too keen on the wild meat sometimes, especially like older people. But whenever you put it in something that's very normal or like something that's you know, kind of one of the staples. Yeah, and you're not like cutting it in blood's coming out and stuff. Yeah, exactly. Like honestly, a port tenderloine grilled on the on the grill, wrapped and bacon. It's pretty hard to beat. But not everybody wants to eat that. You know. Everybody likes spaghetti, you know. So it's a good way from my wife Kaylee Listen, she didn't really like um marin era that much. Really. Yeah, I love it mean too. I love it, dude. Anything with tomatoes in it hard to be. We still got a tomato we need to split three ways, that's right, like tomatoes tomatoes. I mean, I'll eat him on a burger or something. But I'm just gonna eat it rang, dude, I would. I'm gonna have the baddest tomato garden next year. It's gonna be listening. I put my fault garden in. You know, eat tomato plants. I have, like close to please. I didn't know I was really gonna have them, man, I was kind of worried about being short. I'm I hope you hope they all put off. I've got there's three of them that have like nice sets of blooms already, so they're it's gonna be rocking and rolling. Man, did you buy like actual plants or did you see No, those are all from uh or suckers. Yeah, those are all clones from my other plants. That's cool. Yeah, did the Cherokee purple work. I've got one that's for sure going to be good. The other two are a little bit spindily, but they're still green and they've been in the garden for quite a while, so we'll see. I don't know. It's cool, man, Yeah, it's pretty fun. So after South Dakota side of Cordy then, so this is weird. This trip is never gonna make the books until it happens because we I want to go to Illinois in October, but it has to be on the right weather conditions. We got to get that coal front to make it happen. And there's a kind of a window that has to happen in yes, kind of like the fifteenth on right, really preferably like the eighteenth one. Um, if we can get a cold front, then we're gonna try and meetle Jake hopher in Illinois and go do a little deer hunting. Jake said he's gonna shoot a buck with his trad bow. I believe when I see it. Let's see it, Jake, Come on, Jake, come on, Jake. But there's a good chance. He's also said that they've been super busy there at exits, and the business guys that I know that are always working aren't very good hunters. Maybe you gotta be am a little bit enough. Oh, we had a podcast with Jake here while back, but we discussed his uh, his lineage. You see, Jake, you think that Jake is a Native American, but he's had blue eyes but otherwise like dark complexed, you know, kind of like a Native American type nose like you think, and he's like, nope, zero Native American and my family and like what so, maybe he's not all the trad bow hunter he thinks he is because yeah, or maybe he is good and we just maybe instead maybe maybe so, maybe so, but either way that hopefully that gets to happen because uh, Illinois is a cool place in there, some giant bucks there, so it's gonna kind of round out October. We've talked about so much hunting already and we hadn't even gotten to the month. We're chasing it. November. It's the best. What are we doing in November? Jack, What are we doing to November? I think we're going to Kansas. We probably that's definitely Kansas. We've got some trip. We've got a big trip at the beginning of November where we'll end up in Kansas, I think, um And then maybe there's gonna be a lot of Texas stuff in November. We're not spending a lot of time in Texas until November, probably because it is tough in October and so it's hot. And honestly, what we've realized, and Casey and I both have properties now to hunt um of our own, some some all properties, but like we've noticed that in our area pretty much the dead center of November is the time to be in the woods. The sixteen those are like the days, man, And so probably in that span of dates right there, we're gonna spend some time probably on public and Texas probably um at our places as well, depending on what's coming through, what's on the cameras and that kind of thing. Um Man. That's kind of kind of be a weird thing. Last year, got kind of caught up hunting a decent buck on my property, and uh, I think since I passed him kind of ignorantly earlier in the season, because y'all know the story. If you listen, he's gonna be big, He's gonna be big. Yeah. But like I kind of had a vendetta to kill that deer and I hunted that place too hard for a while. I think, like it really would be nice to treat your own property is like the go have a fun hunt and shoot a nice buck if he comes out, you know what I mean. Not you have two high expectations. Would be nice for us to be able to do on our own properties and you know, go out here on this public stuff where the giants live. Um, yeah, I think I think that we're just gonna try to maximize our time in November there um on Texas stuff and not. I mean, we love hunting here, like there's some We've had some really great memories here. I was talking to Jack about that earlier actually a little bit, and it's it's, uh, you know, anytime we're able to shoot a buck in Texas on public, we're gonna throw a party. But like it's a tough thing to do, and uh, we like shooting deer, and so we're gonna just kind of wait till November for a lot of that stuff and then you know, frankly, like after that mid November, Um, I mean, dude, are early November hunting Kansas. We both should have killed last year, and so like, I wouldn't be surprised we both do. I wouldn't be surprised really if we both don't. But I think one of us is gonna kill an early November. Yeah, I think we man. Every season is like a path of mistakes that lead to the next season, and hopefully we can avoid that. I mean, we do have a pretty good plan for uh at least kind of tying up some loose ends up there and making sure that we don't do anything stupid. But in general, like y'all know, my mantra for the season pretty much is like shoot dear close, and uh set yourself up for like twenty yard shots. Then you've got good opportunities. You know, you set yourself up for a forty yard shot when a wind is blowing fifty miles an hour and forty two yards where the buckey is you don't really feel very good about it, you know what I mean, So it ain't it ain't a good situation. But um man, I also don't want Kansas to be just one trip. That would be sad, you know. Well, I mean, and there there will be reasons for us to go back up there, maybe if even if we both were to tag out, but if we don't, you know, there's let's talk about a little bit about what's gonna happen if if we do both tag out early November. We're gonna hunt in Texas obviously the middle of November, but then what's a little about the end of November and December and that kind of thing. Well, we think we're kind of vague on what we might do that we are. We've done some Oklahoma map scouting and the map's got challenged, so there'll be a couple of those coming out. And it's actually kind of been kind of intriguing. It's interesting state. They've got a decent sized little riffle season at the end of November. You go up there and gun hunt. Kind of fun to do. Yeah, I mean, I love to shoot stuff with bows, but like dude, I kind of get the itch just fling a little lead everyone that does. Dude, Jack, you shot that audience. How far last year they in was like yards away on the run? How run very fast? Very fast? They can scale those mountains though real quick. Oh I know, dude. They like can go up in there and like find a cave and hide and like turn upside down stare like crazy crazy suckers stand on the littlest rock on the ledge. And Jack's all about this slinging lids. So who knows if if things are looking good, we might get a chance for one of us to keep behind the camera and have Jack do a little bit. Jack Summers are front Hollywood. That's what I gonna call you from. Dang perfect Hollywood. Dang dude, that's cool. It's better than saying Jack all the time and not knowing if we're talking about you or expression or use the Southern expression summers Um. So yeah, that's kind of what that time of he looks like. Also, Jack is uh the water fell guy, and that's really kind of getting into good waterfol season too. So January December, January, you know, yeah, man, he's been kind of talking about like wanting to do some of that, and I'm game. You know what I've been thinking about a little bit. What's that if I don't um end up tagging out in Nebraska in early September back, there's a chance. I mean you got a tag, right, I think so well as far as I understand it. Yeah, so, and we did same things out Dakota too. If you got a tag, you know it's for I mean, our buddy Brian Day said, because you know he uh went up there. I don't think he ever got to go the first part of the year last year, and he ended up going up there in December and shot him Mulder in late December, froze his little tail off, little tail. He is just he just is a killer dude. Yeah. I didn't realize. Casey and I got to eat dinner with Brian the other day because he was in our state, so he thinks that he's close to he was I'm in Tyler and that kind of yeah, oh my goodness. We were like, yeah, we can meet you here, you know whatever, and he's like okay, yeah. Then he's like, oh, that's forty five minutes white guys coming to Gugee closure, Like, no, we can't understand how stuff is. Maybe people look at like just you take the map of Texas and just take and exerted from a map, and then you look do the same thing with the state of Alabama. People pull him out to whether the same size, but actually Alabama is like the piney woods. Yeah, that's how big it is, you know what I mean. So Texas it is. Man. So we're trying to say, Brian next time, you know where we live. But we got to hang out with him, and he was he was telling a story after story. Yeah I shot at ELK there in ninety six and a shot. You know, it's military over here and whatever. We're like, dad, gum it no man. So he's he's been and done man, And um, we're gonna actually probably have him on a couple of times this fall, just uh give some expertise, Right's right, he is an expert man, He's killed some stuff. He knows how to do it. Uh speaking Oklahoma. Um, we might end up hanging out with Brian and Oklahoma some I don't think I actually invited. He did, and then he kind of uninvited. It's weird. He treats his kind of like step children's right, But well, we've told him before, like we don't need a dad, you know, but crazy uncle's all right, So maybe that's what we get, you know, just nef years. Yeah, coming as long as you know that's right, as long as it's you know, not on the weekends and you know there's not gonna be big hunters coming in next with Now I'm just kidding, but uh, that's a that's kind of like that November December stuff. I mean, I don't know, December is kind of like a wrap up top month, you like, trying to feel tags that aren't filling. Um, I'd rather be in Kansas and December than Texas in December. It gets tough on public land around here in December, man like. And now I killed a deer like January one a couple of years back, Spike, but uh, back to scar we had a pretty good encounter, Like I we had a good December that it was a weird year though yet we haven't ever had a year like that. It's the first year you and I did stuff together. And uh, I got married in November, which is a great decision I've but so December it's kind of our month to hunt. We saw a lot of deer man and ever since then December has been a struttle fest in Texas. Um, you know that early like ten to twelve days of December, there's still some stuff happening a lot of times. But after I mean, like I can remember, I think two years ago actually right here where we are real close, we had a camera hanging, uh. I called it the pulpit, you remember, and we had a good buck come through on December twelve twice that day and we're like, man, like one of the chances you're sitting in a place like down on December twelve and it actually happens, you know, But after about that, nothing happens on our cameras much and in a lot of places. Um, we've picked up teenager in December a few times, like last year we did and stuff, but all nighttime it's like, how do we even how would we even find this steer in the daylight? That's that's right. But anyway, yeah, December is tough. I'm very apt to do some duck hunting. I'm hoping to have put some tags on some deer and maybe elk at that point, and then uh, January same thing, and hopefully hopefully a dove hunt this September dove Hunt. Yeah, we forgot to mention that we're maybe going to try to do something like that. Um, if we can pull something like that off. And I know September is gonna be very busy. Um, and that wedding, God, that's gonna be so cool. Weddings. I just had a wedding in October. Yeah, mind's work. Uh so it's you know, actually have fun begun, sir. Yeah, like your twenties is nothing but being at gmersman, that's what you do. Make sure. And then the thing is everybody like these days are wanting to get up married in October and November, and you better retelling your friends like, listen, I will not be there. It fits in November for people's So I've dude, I just I turned down so many weddings in November. I'm like, yeah, I'm busy. Sorry, tell him you'll edit it. It's like film, Yeah, and then you have to edit somebody's mistakes the whole time. It's funny. But yeah, so um that kind of is the outline of our our season and season right, you got the shirt, y'all. We actually are couldn't create a new hashtag that's called Susan Um, so you'll start using that. It's capital S lowercase you capital z N. Yeah, that's the name of our decoy. Oh yeah, I mean after talking to See Jim, I want you watched some of ok camp TV stuff. He's behind that Montana decoy the whole time. It's interesting. Yeah, we got a heads up the little Susan decoy. You can attach you bow. It's kind of cool. Yeah, we'll see if it works. Um, but it's gonna be a wild ride pretty much from here on out. Um, Jack, I supposed say that the end of the question. I'm sorry, what are you most looking forward to about this fall? Jack? It doesn't matter which side somers there you go, Hollywood, what are you both looking forward to about this false summers? I'm pretty excited to go to South Dakota, are you? I mean obviously Colorado. I mean I've seen elk before, but I'm kind of excited to get close. Wait one person, Yeah, I hope we get close. Seen makes me not think we get close. We'll get there. I'm excited for the whole season. Honestly, only stared hunted in Texas, So yeah, it's gonna be find aid a little different type hunting but we're gonna try to get Jack in front of the camera a few times if we can find some riffle tags. They're a little bit harder to come by sometimes, you know, especially when you're not in Texas. Texas is a big old riffle season, but other places not so much. Yeah, So what about for you, k C. What are you look at most forward to? That's a good question. Um Man. I hate to say it, but I don't hate to say it. Probably Kansas. It just so good. I love it. I mean, South Dakota is gonna be awesome going new to a new place. And I don't have like the weight of like trying to kill a certain sized buck or whatever. But like Kansas is awesome, a good time, you know, like we we hadn't even killed that many deer out there hunting together. But it's you know, because it's not easy, but you can see for a while and you can see bucks and then you can pursue them. And there's big ones and there's good ones, and there's duplex cookies, you know what I mean. And there's fun times and there's fun people and it's man, it's a good time. So yeah, I hear you on that, but I am very excited about South Dakota as well. I feel I feel that, uh, I feel that we're gonna come home with two deer for sure. Um whether there because we get no tags? Right then, we get no tags? No, you go, I want to, But I think it's any deer tag. I think we can shoot a dough if we want to. So so, I mean, I ain't a butt it. No, I mean she get down there four or five and Doe walks. Let's tough, man, I'm just gonna fling this buddy anyway. That's kind of I think I'm kind of excited about that too. Summers who was killing first in South Dakota? Mm hmm, who wants to? Oh me, I want to go first? You got it? I'll no, I'll take Colorado. Yeah, that's sure. You did get first, you get first call in. After that, it's all if I don't make it happen. If I was gonna do all the calling anyways, because Tyler won't learn how to his Mr instrument over here won't learn how to blow him alcohol. So I got a voice on you. Yeah, I just don't even use the calls whistle man, man, I uh I can duck call fort again. But the elk thing is is a little bit different. Haven't practiced it very much. Don't get you a call when you gave me last year was was I don't know, it might not have been suited to my mouth or something, because I I tried and I really very much struggled through that. Um and I mean I can blow a turkey die fragm and you know, yeah, it's a different thing because turkey die fram you're kind of like constantly moving your tongue, whereas the elk die fram you kind of hold your tongue in one place for a lot of that and it's kind of just the pressure. So it's a different deal. But we'll get you. Uh, we're about to actually order some open reads from well keep talking about Steve Chappell, but the dudes legit. You know, we had him on the OL podcast and he makes some good calls or uh helps make some good calls with Rocky Mountain, so probably gonna get a couple of those. He ain't paying us for that, so we just like him. So yeah, oh gosh, I like good people too, and yeah, yeah, so anyway, that's kind of that's kind of season outlook. That is Jack Summer's introduction to everybody as well, and is the hog hunt in the season. Uh, it wasn't in the season playlist. Don't think last year man should have been second. It's outside of the season. I mean technically it's offseason, but it's it's it's offseason. You know. Jack might be our turkey content provider. He freaking loves it. Man, He knows what he's doing. Yeah, you turkey hunt every year? Correct? Yeah, pretty much everything. I didn't get to the last Frank this past spring. Yeah, but he's a girlfriend up, dude, you better get rid of them. Girl. It's all right, dude. The good thing about living the life we live is it's good for a married men because where we go they ain't no women. So it's good for us because we got girls at home. And uh, they ain't got nothing to be jealous of because it's just us an old white tailed out there. And but for a single man it can get kind of rough. Ye, see why some of our other friends in the industry are still a single. Well, I don't meet anybody so young. Who knows, dude, maybe you'll be running around with us and meet a farmer's daughter somewhere and marry into like a couple of thousand. That would be Actually, we'll try to set you up. What I guess since everybody's wondering, are you officially single right now or what's what's the deal? Officially single? Officially single, Jack Summers is single for at the moment. Man. So if you're listening, he's still he still has a full head of hair too. Yeah, And and it's kind of it's going somewhere right, it's going backwards, right, it's going long, it's going long like it. I like it. It's all that. So that's trendy. Girls if you're listening them all, yeah, they love it so man. Um So yeah, I mean I can't think of a um better reason for you to send us a message on Instagram is that Jack Summers guy. Can y'all give me a right onto Jack Summers. Yeah, we'll be posting some pictures on our social and stuff, and not for that reason, but to show you all some all dads and stuff like that. You know, it's really cool stuff that Jackson done over the years. We'll probably do like a Jack Summers a week here in a couple of weeks or whatever. So, um, it'll be our wrap up of the summer. Summer's in summers in. That's it. Yeah, So anyway, anything else we're gonna discuss or we kind of ready to go, I guess go home. Oh my god, just ready to go nap. It feels good to be in some aerica. It's still is donety nine out like it hasn't changed ninety one in the shade, so it's definitely sweltering out there right now. I'm glad we're doing quite honestly for the day. We're done for We're done in Texas until like, no, pretty much. I mean we're gonna pull a little cams actually gonna we need I need to put up a camera on my own property. That's a different deal completely than how it works out of here. You know, you go buy the gold nuggets and pour them out and put a camera on it and see what comes in, you know. So uh but yeah, otherwise, let's just let's go. Yeah, well, let's push you on through, push you on through to like one month from now, what's today's day? Casey as these we had these weird uh it's like a inside language, you know. Whatever we'll tell you about that. He's in on it. He's in on it. You're getting in on it for sure. What's funny is like our Northern brethren, that's a phrase they use a lot. Yeah, Oh, I go hunt out there. They love long. I don't. And one month from today, when we're recording this, at least one month from today, we will be not sleeping because when we leave the next day, so we will be not sleeping because we're so excited. And we'll already have one deer down velvet. Baby, what do you do with the velvet? Antlers? Just stripped them down, eat them. That's a's right, Velston. That's what you're gonna need for Colorado. Yeah. I'll be carried out this velvet, I promise. Yes. Yeah, that's it man. So uh, y'all get stoked, man. One month from today, we're gonna be pretty much hitting the Colorado. Several weeks ago, I was ragging on some people for saying it's almost here, you know, and it's like, oh, that's July. It's not really almost here unless you're a sheep hunter, you know. But it's kind of getting getting close. Oh yeah, man, I mean we're mid August. Yeah, it's it's people are thinking about deer hunting. Yeah, yeah, I mean if Jack and I go to Nebraska, it's happening here soon like two weeks. Yeah, from the time we're recording this, from the time you guys are listening, like we're going man, you know what I mean. Man, So I'm excited exciting stuff. Well cool. Uh, if you're new to us, if you're new listener or whatever, I appreciate you being here, be sure and subscribe to the podcast and uh leave us a review if you want to. Five stars only. It's the only ones really except we except, so do that, and uh go check out our YouTube channel as well. Um, we can subscribe there. You'll be able to see the season. We had a lot of good stuff, like a lot of stuff we talked about the day is on there, so check that stuff out. Let us know what you think. And uh, get ready because it's gonna be a wild ride this fall. Man. I can't wait. I can't wait all fall with Summer's Baby. Man, we got to rebrand guys appreciate it, like Casey said, and remember this is your element living in
