Video: Deer Carcass Completely Decomposes in 5 Days

“In nature nothing is wasted; everything is recycled.”

The famous quote from scientist David Suzuki is on full display in this educational video. It only takes five days for the forest to turn this roadkilled fawn into a pile of bones. If the camera would have stayed there a bit longer, we would have seen the whitetail’s gooey nutrients soak into the soil to fertilize grasses and mushrooms, which then would have been eaten by some other deer. It’s the circle of life—and not just the kind Elton John sang about in “Lion King.”
