Freelance writer Darron McDougal, a God-fearing man, was practically born with a bow in his hand. His family purchased an archery retail shop in 2002. He quickly became a foundational employee, also learning the business side of the hunting industry. He published his first article in 2009, so when his family sold the store in 2010, he naturally sought to make a living via outdoor writing. During his career, McDougal has served as the editor of three different hunting and outdoor magazines and has published over 1,200 articles across many top publications and websites. In 2013, he married his best friend, Becca, and they call Wausau, Wisconsin, home, where they enjoy modern homesteading. McDougal has hunted from Alaska to Florida, and although he loves hunting various big game animals, bowhunting mature whitetail bucks on the ground, primarily on public land, is his thing. Wild turkeys with a bow are a close second.
