MeatEater's Newest Book Is a New York Times Bestseller

We're so thrilled to announce that Steven Rinella's first book for children, Catch a Crayfish, Count the Stars, has hit the New York Times bestseller list in the coveted #1 spot.

We'd like to extend a hearty thanks to all of our fans for making this moment possible. Crayfish has only been out in the world for two weeks, but in that time we've been bowled over by your response. It's incredibly moving to hear that your kids are poring over its pages and eagerly plotting their summertime adventures.

We'd love to hear how your family is using the book, so let us know what kind of fearless outdoor kids you're raising! Tag us (@meateater) in your photos and stories, and send in photos and progress reports to themeateater@themeateater.com.

Although the book is geared to readers ages 8-12, we're hearing that it's hitting the mark for older children and that younger kids are reading it together with their parents. Early reports indicate that the blowgun-making activity is a hit with all ages.

As Steve put it, “A book about making blowguns, cleaning skulls, scaling fish, growing veggies, and handling guns in a safe and responsible way is a #1 New York Times Bestseller. Who would have thought?”

If you haven't picked up your copy yet, get cracking—Catch a Crayfish, Count the Stars is available wherever books are sold.
