When I think back through my discussions with uber-succesful DIY deer hunters – especially those hunting in heavily pressured or public areas – the most commonly referenced key to success is an obsession with scouting. The guys/gals that consistently kill big mature bucks in tough areas are almost always the ones that prioritize scouting over everything else. Many of these hunters even claim to scout more often than they hunt. That said, it’s clear to me that if you want to up your whitetail game, one of the first places to start is with your scouting.
If you’re hoping to do just that, a recent video series I came across should help. This five part series put together by our friends over at Bowhunting.com does a great job of walking through a number of important scouting strategies, along with visual examples of the things to look for and how to find them. So take a look at the embedded videos below and then get out scouting!
